DUTIES:
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Information Technology Division.

Serves as a technical specialist for a complex telecommunications system involving the integration of multiple services over a moderately dispersed environment. Serves as senior staff member in the analysis, evaluation, and implementation of information technology (IT) in the areas of network fiber optics and copper cabling(installation and termination), network systems, and network management. Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network system failures. Analyzes local area network (LAN)/wide area network (WAN) system malfunctions for major center-wide systems and takes action to remedy or effect system recovery.

Analyzes network equipment and software utilization using real time monitoring techniques and tools to identify problem areas and to maintain optimum performance levels.

Leads studies of communications systems. Reviews network data such as volume, peak loads, and circuit capabilities. Evaluates capacity and quality of service data to improve the service provided.

Assesses the need for new and upgraded service or telephone instruments. Prepares and submits telecommunications service requests.

Assesses training needs and determines the best approaches for providing training. Prepares and presents instruction one-on-one or to small groups.
