I saw it Tuesday whenI flew in to Chicago. It was parked by a hanger and the pilots of our flight made a announcment about it over the PA, the damn thing is a monster. I can not see that thing even flying, but if the Super Guppy can fly then I guess this thing can. It was absolutely enormous though.

OVER? did you say "Over"? Nothing is over until we decide its over, was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell No!!!

Basically, although you know most Asian airlines will buy them to ferry all of their passengers from one side of Japan to another. But it has cost Airbus BILLIONS so far. I don't even want to know how many they have to sell to break even.

Morons...

It's not costing Airbus much.. it's costing French/German/British tax payers a few though.

As for the use... hub/spoke for the middle east and asia & inter-continental.

The only orders that were placed in the US were by UPS and FedEx and they already cancled their orders due to all the delays. Also these planes are entirely too modernized and use many electronic control systems that are difficult for pilots to override. They have had lots of these planes plow through trees because the pilots simply could not override the system.

All true. US pilots HATE/DREAD/LOATH flying Airbus planes for that reason.

I think you have 2 distinct camps in the US. Most of the people that I know that fly Airbus LOVE the Airbus. Not in spite of the fly-by-wire but BECAUSE of the fly-by-wire. I spent 4 hours in an A330 Level D (Full Motion) simulator and have to say that the airplane handles EXTREMELY well. We even did low-level go arounds and the airplane isn't tough to get back up in the air. You hit the "TO/GO" (Take-off/Go Around) button and you're off. Pretty simple. Then you have the loyal Boeing camp that say they will "never fly an Airbus." To which, I say, Bullshit. If you walked up to any of them and said "We're pulling you off the 737 and putting you on the A321, which gives you a bump in pay" the pilots would say "When do I go to school?"
