No Kids Allowed Movement??? - June 25, 2013, 08:23 PM

The Sushi Bar in Alexandria, Va. is nestled between two restaurants that children flock to for burgers and fun. Restaurant owner Mike Anderson created the no-kids-allowed policy in his establishment because he says parents need a break.

As a parent, I'm all for it.

When I get a rare night out with the wife, I don't want to go to a place where there's a bunch of screaming rugrats.

Dunno if anyone has tried it yet but the Alamo Draft house in Ashburn off of loudoun county parkway is no kids unless accompanied by a guardian. Which is fantastic since you get full service meals while watching the latest releases.

About | Austin | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

In 1997, my wife and I opened the very first single screen Alamo Drafthouse. We didn't have any qualifications except for one -- we were devoted movie fans. We were lucky to find that to be most important qualification of all. Since then, have made the Alamo Drafthouse the theater for movie fans by movie fans.

We have a few simple principles that we uphold in our day to day operation:

We don't allow unaccompanied kids at movies and only allow babies at select "baby day" screenings.
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards talking and texting during the movie. If you talk or text, you will receive one warning. If it happens again, you will be kicked out without a refund.
We strive to be leaders in presentation quality.
We support local breweries.
We strive to serve quality, fresh-prepared food.
As the Alamo Drafthouse grows, we remain dedicated to keeping the movie-watching experience safe for movie fans, serving quality food and drinks, and upholding high presentation standards. We are also striving to achieve long term goals by expanding the theater to new neighborhoods. Here are the eight objectives we hope to achieve as we grow:

Share the movies we love with as many people as possible.
Be a community cultural center.
Build an audience for classic, golden era cinema.
Build an audience for foreign language films.
Build a youth and collegiate cinephile audience.
Help local video stores survive as community cultural centers.
Help preserve our vulnerable 35mm film history.
Help preserve our even more vulnerable VHS film history.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in your neighborhood. I hope that we live up to our own standards every time you visit.

Tell me about it. I never went to any of the pools in ashburn village just for this reason. We always ended up going to friends apartment complexes with pools since there was usually no kids there. Pools with kids = ugh.

And alamo drafthouse is awesome. They have a 3 minute voicemail before each movie of this dumb Texas chick yelling at them because she got booted for texting during a movie.

Ill see all my non IMAX movies there.

hahaha must have not seen that yet, guess it's early in the previews. We had a couple beside us start pounding down beers and texting + babbling like 10 minutes in. They got a warning so quick and it was very satisfying to see them slink back into their seats and stop being rude.

I've been to lots of alamo drafthouses in TX. Great places. They occasionally have theme nights that are awesome, too. When beerfest came out, they started it with some drinking competitions (which i'm happy to say I won) then played the movie.
