Not all cops are bad - June 28, 2007, 09:34 AM

I frequently see threads demonstrating LEO abuse of position on .net; these incidents are inexcusable and do nothing but create societal distrust for law enforcement.

In the spirit of counterbalancing a possible bias, I offer these articles of cops going above and beyond, often at the risk of their own life:

There is good and bad in everything. Mostly people just see the bad and never see the good.

Thanks for posting.

Growing up where I did you never know who was a good cop and who was bad. The problem comes that there is always bad apples in every bunch. As a society we tend to focus on the bad. It sucks because for every bad there are many more good. I will bash on cops as much as the next. I believe that some of them became cops to improve there self esteem. Which is totally the wrong reason to become a police officer. The thing that most people do not realize is that even when an officer is off duty he/she is really not off duty. When ever I have an encounter with a officer I try to be a polite and respectful as I can (yes I can be polite and respectful) Knowing that they have a job that is more stressful than mine could ever be. However they are held to a higher level. They need to know how to control there emotions. They are human and I do understand that. I give huge props to the cops out there who took the job in hopes of helping others and making this world a better place for all of us.

Good thread!

When I work my ass off, overtime til 10 PM, to get a server up you know what I get? Comp time.

When a server crashes and I can't get data off or recover a database extract you know what I get?

This fucking story makes me livid.

http://www.nysun.com/article/47513

I've been hacking up lung cookies since about 2 months after 9/11 and the cause still can't be determined. People have to start dying before anyone pays any attention. Sad freakin' reality.

Good post

So they did their job. A big thanks to them.

Everytime a computer programmer writes a line of code does he have the possibility of a news article.

With the good comes the bad.

Some cops are still douchebags and corrupt.

Thanks for posting this Whisper, there's been a lot of cop hate on here lately, its nice to see a countering post and some people actually agreeing.

Everyone remember, just like you'll encounted douchebags in every walk of life, some become cops as well... The rest of the good cops usually don't like them either, but sometimes it takes a while to weed them out, just like the guy you work with that nobody likes and does a crappy job.

Its a good post, and like most have said there are good and bad with everything you come across in life.

So far since being here in VA I've encountered some good cops and I just chit chat with them, and I've ran into some dirty cops that are pissed at life and just trying to get their quota for the month for tickets. The "dirty cops" i'm talking about are the ones who think that because they are supposed to Uphold the Law that they are Above the Law and better than everyone else, point being that they have an Image as a LEO to show everyone around them. I've deployed 2 times into Iraq and I'm not better than anyone else and I may have EAS'd out of the Marine Corps but I still dont act like an ass or talk down to ppl I come across if I know they're a Civilian and have always been a Civilian. No one person is better than any other person.
