Oakton BB&T Robbery 6/8/11 - June 8, 2011, 06:16 PM

So I'm listening to/reading these news reports and police press releases about it. There are quite a few details not being mentioned and FCPD seems to be trying to take full credit for the results.

This same guy was the suspect for several other recent bank robberies. The FBI was on to him. Without going into sensitive details, if it weren't for the FBI, FCPD would not have caught up with him today.

It was not a high speed chase from VA into DC. An FCPD unmarked unit spotted him on the Beltway heading toward the WW bridge. That cop was pretty sure the suspect was aware of him. Just before reaching the bridge the Fairfax helo caught up with them. Only once the suspect got onto northbound Indian Head Hwy did he take off. Clipped one car prior to final crash with a DC cop. The FCPD unit somehow managed to damage his car too.

You were fingered as a suspect in a bank robbery?

Well, kinda... I matched the description. Same bank as this one. It had been robbed literally mins earlier. Feds saw me getting on my bike less than a mile away and flew through the parking lot to block me in. The jumped out and started HOUNDING me. Who I was, where I was coming from, where I was going, how long I had been in the area, etc. Once they finally believed I had no idea wtf they were talking abt, they told me what had happened.

That had to be a bit of an ass puckering experience. Glad you handled it well.
I know a few people who would have gotten very hot headed about being boxed in, detained, and then bombarded with questions and no explanation as to why.

Since they've made it public, this is what I was alluding to.
