Off road trails for off-roading (truck) - March 10, 2016, 12:27 PM

I recently bought a 1974 Chevy pick up that is setup for off-roading, I honestly just bought it because it's retarded, cool and I wanted to own something like it (I dabbled in 4x4's in my youth). Are there any trails or "white roads" one can get on in the area? I don't mean rock crawling or mudding, I mean something nice scenic with some medium difficulty obstacles?

The cove has some nice trails. They range from fairly easy to very rocky and challenging.

With I could be more help in VA. If you head up to PA, I know a bunch more options.

Then again... That's just me.

On the internet... Everyone is an expert.

And now...The dancing Banana:

It's been a long time since I've been out there but look at GW Forest. Lots of fire roads and easy trails. Just make sure you don't accidentally end up on National Park property. They will seize your vehicle, last I'd heard.

Is Paragon Park still operating in PA?

And fire roads are ok to drive on? Just never done this in the US, in Italy it's pretty much fair game everywhere unless national park

No. The land owners weaseled out of the lease stating environmental concerns. I believe the future plan for the property was to level the entire thing and build a shipping center or something. Because that wouldn't hurt the environment at all

Rausch Creek is still open and has some decent trails from easy to crazy.

Go to Flag Pole Knob by JMU. You should have a good time out there. Bring a friend in another vehicle if you can. It's a long walk back to town.

There are a bunch of trails here, you just need to make sure your not on one of the ATV only trails

Also here, very nice trail up over the mountain and some hairy trails along the ridgeline. Great place to take your girl out to and have fun in the woods. Some nice creeks to cross as well.
