Ohlins Purchased by Monroe / Rancho Shock's Parent Co.

Hopefully they don't mess with the quality or pricing.

Quality will suffer.

CCS762ZX6 November 22, 2018 10:38 PM

Rarely do mergers / acquisitions result in an improved product. Probably have another year or so before anything happens...

beatle November 24, 2018 02:22 PM

Yeah, they'll gut the quality like Techtronic gutted the tool companies. I bet they'll cut quality to become the defacto "R" suspension on most stock bikes.

Scot November 26, 2018 09:11 AM

Could the pricing get worse?

beatle November 27, 2018 04:56 AM

I can't see it getting more expensive. I already know several people who have gone with other shock manufacturers for less money. Ohlins does make a good product, but in a lot of cases they seem to be beyond the point of diminishing returns.

how much better than factory suspensions are ohlins these days?

The Evil Twin January 19, 2019 05:12 PM

Hopefully they don't start to perform like Rancho.

This is something I have wondered. That said, i don't think stock equipment is designed for the rigors of a fast racer. Even a fast amateur.

Yet I know of one expert racer who turned their fastest laps on a stock suspension after years of running Ohlins.
