Olympic womens short track relay controversy: Weigh in - February 25, 2010, 11:51 AM

I've watched the video a bunch of times. Although I don't really know all the rules, I think the disqualification of the South Korea team was wrong. The Korean skater was ahead and had postion. "That's racing, dog."

I agree - 'rubbin's racing' - would've been different if there was an elbow involved - But it seemed to me the Chinese racer almost stepped on the Korean racer going for a 'stuff' but the Korean held on, pushed through and took off.

I don't know the rules and it wasn't a clean pass but it wasn't *that* dirty either.

I don't know the rules either, but it seemed like the Koreans had position on the inside and didn't have anywhere to go to prevent the bump.

Video: 5 min mark for slo-mo replay:
http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/ass...ap+short+track

South Korean's skater had the inside line and was ahead. That the skates touched was incidental.

If anything, the argument could be made that the Chinese skater stepped on the back of the Korean skater's skate causing her to loose balance and slide a bit and then the Chinese skater pushed off on the Korean skater.

On another note - the American's got straight up SMOKED. They were damn near a lap down. These girls were cooking! Even though the Chinese came in 2nd place, it was still a World Record time which tells you just how fast the South Koreans were moving because the Chinese finished a full second behind.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

kind of reminds me of rossi stuffing stoner at laguna seca at the corkscrew. the korean was clearly ahead or at the very least equal to the chinese girl going into that turn. the koreans were robbed!
