Paging OKAYH (or anyone else who repairs Macbooks) - July 12, 2017, 09:07 PM

Check PMs, sir.

I had a drink next to my Macbook and bumped it hard enough that about a teaspoon of liquid sloshed out of the glass and went onto the keyboard. I quickly blotted it up and thought nothing more of it. Not the first time just a tiny bit of liquid hit the keyboard.

2-3 hours later it began acting wonky.

24 hours later, now she's dead.

Won't boot - not even a greenlight on the magsafe when plugged in.

I know Apple is going to try to out a repair estimate number that is absurd and push you toward buying a new $2,000 machine - because that's what Apple does rather than design a f*cking keyboard that can handle a tiny bit of liquid.

PM me the specs of the machine, if you remember them, and how old you think it is. I might be able to just swap out your drive to another machine. Chances are no liquid made it to the drive.

Thx. Watched some of his videos today. The guy is hilarious. Reminds me of a few curmudgeon grousing, curse heavy but brilliant people I grew up around in New York.
He clearly knows his stuff. Electronics repair is a dying craft here in the stats. Most people think <dispose - repurchase> so I'm glad to see him presenting detailed diagnostic and repair. Sadly the stuff he does is several steps beyond my capability.

But a really good watch if only for the annotation and commentary along the way.
