Parking in Arlington - July 31, 2009, 01:05 PM

So my new job has me working in Arlington... I did a little google street view search and there isnt any motorcycle parking to be found... anyone know if its ok to park on the side walks all day like we do when we hit up front page?

hopefully the bike wont get stolen... it will be "near" a federal building. I'm just too cheap to pay $10/day to park... anywhere.

i see lots of bikes parked at the end of a long row of pay spots. parked with the tire back to the curb with about 3 feet between the bike and the bumper of the last car, but still before the sign that doesn't let you park past it.

did i say that right?

Depends on where you are, generally there is no official moto parking in Arlington, but you'll quickly find spots where folks leave their bikes. Don't park in a pay spot dude.

If I knew exactly WHERE in arlington you were that would probably make it easier to answer the question. Post a google maps snapshot, Kaan.

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine there. I see bikes parked on the sidewalk in ballston all the time.

I think that at the mall, right before you go through the gates to get a ticket, on the Randolph entrance you can pull off to the side and there area few moto spots. I don't know if they have a time limit or if they watch them, but I've seen bikes park there.

There's parking inside Ballston Mall for $2/day and $1 on the weekend.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, its like thisA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

Park anywhere you want. Arlington loves motorcyles inbetween cars or on the sidewalk.

I am kidding! I have racked up more tickets than I care to count.

This county SUCKS for motorcylist between Ballston and Rosslyn. Maybe you can get lucky in Crystal City towards the south, but even there I run the parking garage arms and park for free in and out. I have a permit on Crystal Drive but bike does not trigger the system and they post "No Motorcycles" on mine and most garages.

You may find a sneaky spot here or there - but after 10 years of owning a home here and riding a bike I caved and have a 50cc scooter that I park on the sidewalk or in meters w/o paying all the fucking time to annoy the meter maids. No plate, no worries IMO.

Scooter will get stolen sure enough but cheaper than the tickets I get on my bike and fuck Arlington County and their anti two wheel attitude.

Park in the neighborhood, they don't check for zone passes on bikes. You can not park inbetween cars in the squares w/ X's in them.
