Sleep tight!

I've said it before on here, one of the best knockouts Ive seen was during the Gatti vs. Gamache fight YEARS ago. The late Arturo Gatti actually ended Gamache's career with these three punches. After getting out of the hospital, he said something like, "When you wake up from punches like that, you really start to reconsider."

Gatti sets this up perfectly. Hits him with the right uppercut, knocks Joey out, wakes him back up with the left, and back to sleep again with the right:

I was watching the fight....looked at the stand next to my chair to grab my beer, next thing I know, Paul is going to the canvass. That shot was vicious and just picture perfect.

Gamache had the nerve to sue HBO for 10's of millions after that loss. He claimed the fight was unfair because Gatti cut weight and he didnt, resulting in a weight defecit of 17lbs the night of the fight.

It got thrown out of court when HBO showed that Gamache had been lobbying HBO to fight Gatti for 3+ years before they made the fight.

Weird thing was, I had seen Gamache fight before this and he had a tight defense, real good head movement, but for *some reason* it vanished this night.

Yeah, I remember the whole weight dispute. Ridiculous. Gamache wasn't necessarily a chump fighter. Wasn't someone Gatti was fighting just to pad his record (i.e., one of today's fighters who will go unnamed). Regardless, he showed up looking sluggish and out of shape. You are right too...he had NO defense that night and Gatti made quick work of him. It really sucks what happened to Gatti. I was looking forward to at least a few more great fights out of him before his brain turned into oatmeal.

I agree, he was a legend. Nobody had more heart than Gatti. It was as if his life was on the line, thats how hard he fought.
