Western Europe liberated itself from God and enjoyed a nice little pleasure-oriented eutopia for a time. What they weren't wise enough to realize is that freedom depends on virtue, virtue depends on faith, and faith depends on freedom. They dispensed with virtue--see it writ large in Amersterdam--by denying themselves nothing, they abandoned faith in something solid and lasting, choosing to put their faith in humanity alone instead, and now they are watching their treasured freedom slip away. The Muslims just happen to be the most aggressive group in the area, and so they are spreading rapidly in their influence. Europe is fertile ground for their desired theocracy.

Os Guinness by the auspices of the FRC explains it nicely.

I think that referring to 'Western Europe' as if it were some monolithic entity, of one mind and action, is intellectually lazy.

Anyway, if & when the muslims take over then 'faith' will be restored and uniform; however freedom will not - which belies the idea that the two are connected in a good way.

...

Sure. If I were writing something even remotely more important than a DCSBN forum post, I'd probably take the time to break it down a bit more.

Careful. Scratch has all the time in the world to post witty one-word retorts and quote you out of context months later.

I'd agree it's much quicker and easier to just parrot articles from FRC.

Let me know when you have actually listened to Guinness's lecture and have some criticism of substance. I seriously doubt you can knock any truth or logical basis out from under his argument.

See, it's not an article. That means I've invested the hour our so to listen. In fact, I've listened to it twice. I've actually read some works by Guinness and know who he is. He lives in the DC area, last I heard.

You can dislike what I post, but you have no basis to say that I have no background in it or haven't done my homework. On the other hand, all the agnostic has to do is just not know much. Easiest and most intellectually lazy of any belief system!

Meh, they don't concern me much. 99% of Muslims go to Europe for the exact same reason Americans migrated to the US. To escape religious persecution and to have a better life. They can practice their religion the way they want, yet still enjoy the fruits of democracy/bureaucracy/socialism or whatever they prefer.

Europe has had a large Muslim minority for decades. Hell Turks make up about 6%-8% of the German population according to different sources. They have been there since the late 40s so most of them are 3rd generation. You won't see this type of crap there cause the fundamentalists will get their asses beat talking like that and saying you're not real Muslim blah blah blah.

I say don't worry about the Muslim takeover of the world. I say we should worry more about the types of dudes that are raping 12 week old babies at home. Hell, there are anywhere from 15K to 17K murders in the US every year. Now that's worrisome.

Yet another simplistic dismissal. Refer to my observation in the other thread regarding apocalyptic religions. Religious zealotry, regardless of stripe, is antithetical to freedom.

You know when he pissed off the Turks, the Ottoman sultan of the time stopped his war with Persians, destroyed his whole army, made him disappear, and then controlled the region for 600 years right
