Performance Driving Schools - Anyone Know of Any? - January 15, 2015, 09:18 PM

Starting seeing a new woman and interestingly enough she expressed an interest in doing the BMW Driving School.

$4K is definitely not the kind of guap I'm looking to spend this early on with her, but I wouldn't mind doing something similar for less.

I know Porsche has a similar program that visits VIR for similar cost.

Derek Daly and some others are in the South. Don't know their costs though.

Has anyone done one if these all inclusive (well at least they give you the car and instruction) programs yet? Are they're any reasonably priced ones regionally (Summit / NJMP)?

I can't stand PopEyes. Too much breading and too crunchy

The chicken strips meal I get is just over $10 after tax. I was in there just yesterday. I eat too much crappy food.

I assume these schools include use of school cars. Why not find something where you use your own?

Hey on a real note I didn't know the strips were that good until the wife got them. They were great. Might have to start switching up my orders.

Track prepping a car, driving it there, finishing the prep, then driving it home can be cost and time consuming.

Not to mention, I want to beat on it and walk away without losing sleep if it all goes wrong or something goes "bang", and be left without a ride home to boot.

Understood. That said, I rode my superhawk to mid ohio for california superbike school back in the late 90s. I thought it made for a good trip but others thought I was crazy. Maybe it makes for a good trip if you're crazy. I'd do it again though.

local autocross regions hold driver schools to get more people into the sport. You can just take a DD (or rent one from enterprise or something.. just don't tell them what you are doing ) and sign up for one. A lot cheaper than going to a expensive racing school. Take any 4 wheeled vehicle that isn't an SUV or a truck.

Same with kart tracks. often they'll have classes you can sign up for, including the kart rental. If you find one where they run something serious like a KPV/HPV kart, it will be really really fun. Much cheaper also.

I'd give you more specific pointers for these two options but my karting and autocross experience is from SoCal :S
