Petersons Ice Cream Depot - Clifton, Va - April 6, 2009, 02:28 PM

So I go thru Clifton on my way to and from work everyday, and I've always wanted to stop by Peterson's Ice Cream Depot right there on Main St. Well, since yesterday was such a nice day, I cleaned up the 9, got my daughter geared up, and we rode out there for some ice cream. Man - it was good stuff. Clifton was pretty busy - I saw a bunch of bikes at the Main Street Pub, and there were a bunch of folks out on foot. I got a banana split and my daughter got an ice cream float. We went around to the back of the shop to the Dog Pound to eat, and thats when I noticed that they also sell Carolina pulled pork BBQ sammiches! Anyone tried them out? We were only there for dessert, since we had already eaten lunch, or else I would have thrown down a BBQ sammich or two. I'm sure I'll be stopping thru there more often thru the spring and summer. I'm going to be looking for more of these mom and pop eateries on my rides. Those are some of the best places for grub

Mom & Pop Place #2:
I'm not sure if you're into coffee, but there's a really cute place in Brunswick called Beans in the Belfry. It's in an old converted church and they serve great coffee along with sandwiches. It's also along a nice ride route!

Both places sound like good stop spots to hit up on a nice little fun run or somthing.

going to have to check out the pulled pork sammys. i will let you know if they are worth it : )

plus places like that i would think like people like us. cuz we get riders as a group to stop. thats more money for them. and since we are on bikes. we wont take up as much parking : )
