Exclamation Photo Basics for DSLR Class - December 10, 2009, 12:44 PM

I'm having another class which will start in two weeks. Cost for the 2-hour once a week for six-weeks class is $180.00 (this is a discounted price). The first class will begin either Dec. 22nd or 29th.

Class will be held on Tuesday evenings 7:30 pm -9:30 pm in Tyson's Corner, VA.

We will cover:

Composition
Understanding Exposure / the Exposure Triangle, White Balance & Aperture Priority / Shutter Priority Modes
Lens Selection & Depth-of-Field
Capturing the Moment
Using Shutter Speed for Effect
and a whole lot more!

Each week you will be given a specific assignment for class critique the following week. This is a valuable tool for understanding what you are doing right and where you need to make corrections.

There is room for 10 people. If you would like to attend, please send me an email by 12/16 and put DCSB in the subject line: cliff@cliffowen.net

I am going to guess by the title of the class you need a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera its just a guess.

On another note : This is an awesome class that will help you with understanding what your camera is capable of and what to look for when making pictures.

Tuesdays are no good for me, but I sent this off to a coworker who's husband just bought her a D300s, 35mm f/1.8 and 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G .... not a bad Christmas present

She is a complete noob and would benefit greatly from the class, so heads up if you hear from her.

Translation: I really would like to do this but there is no way in hell my wife is going to let me out of the house and actually believe I am going to a Photo class.

how long have you been on this site?

Sorry for the thread jack Cliff

..... BACK TO TOPIC!!

Hokie - I am a Nikon biased user, so I say for a newb camera, go for the D5000 or D40.

IMHO, between the D5000 and D40 - go D40 unless you're going to be printing out door sized pictures.

I wouldn't know anything about the Canon line, maybe Chris2, Son or Long can chime in.

Since they hardly log on here anymore, especially Long,

Canon equivalent to the Nikon Ed spoke of = Canon T1i (Son talked me into), 40D (discontinued) of 50D.

I am not that well versed in SLR cameras, but I understansd that the Canon 40D is a good camera. Basic enough for a beginner, but advanced enough if you get more advanced. I have been told it can grow with you for a while before you need to upgrade.

OVER? did you say "Over"? Nothing is over until we decide its over, was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell No!!!
