Arrow Photo Class :: Feeler - July 1, 2009, 05:42 PM

UPDATE: It looks like the class will be held in Tyson's Corner on either a Tue or Wed night. There are about 12 people interested. Later this week I'll be asking for email addresses so I can create a mailing list.

I anticipate the class beginning in 14-20 days and it will meet once a week for six weeks. If there is enough interest in a follow-up class I'll make it happen.

As I stated before, this will be a class to provide you with a solid understanding of the basics of photography and composition. There will be a weekly assignment and class critique the following week.

I've had several requests for photography instruction and I'm thinking of holding a 6-week class -- one hour or 90-minutes a week. There will be a fee. I'm thinking $120/per person, or so, for the six weeks.

I'd like to gauge interest.

This would be a basics class built around understanding the Exposure Triangle (f-stops, shutter speed, iso), Rule of Thirds composition, choosing the proper lens to get the look you want, etc.

There will be no 'quick Photoshop actions' or shortcuts taught. What you will learn are the basics and how to 'see' better.

Each week there will be an assignment with class review the following week.

Please let me know via this thread if you'd like to attend a class.

Definately! 120 isn't a bad price either. I had an slr yrs and yrs ago and had some idea how to do all that (stopped using it was having problems with it) I get a dslr, and all that stuff is gone from my head-damn age! I worked a couple of months at Picture People (which I loved) so some stuff I learned was helpful. Anyway, I would definately do it!

Good business plan. I'm in brother. However I will charge you back if I'm expected to pose naked for anyone in class. What days or hours are you thinking of?

What are your requirements going to be for camera equipment?

I'd be very interested Cliff! Very fair price as well.

I would really love to do this, but it would depend on time, location, and day of week. If it's a weeknight, would have to be late enough to allow time to drive there after work ...

Weekends would be better for me.

I'd be interested, especially if some focus on portraiture can sneak its way in there. "Shoot 1.8 at people's faces to blur the background" runs out of gas pretty fast hah

*sigh*
