Does anyone have a high speed camera or know where you can rent one with or without operator?

I need to do some informal ballistics testing on some doors and was would like to video tape the results.

Define high speed. Anything over 1000fps and you're in the thousands per day not to mention you still need all of the supporting equipment

You can get 240fps @ 848x480 with a gopro 3 black edition.

That's about as fast/inexpensive as you can get.

Regrettably, that's not going to be fast enough for ballistics work. He's trying to capture projos moving at 2600-3000 ft/s (assuming rifle work. shave a 1000 for handguns.)

He would need 600-800fps minimum to capture good analysis worthy video.

Bump it up.

Thanks for the responses so far so GoPro 3 is the best bet so far. Have on of those.

I was wondering if any of the high dollar cameras that photonerds are using will work any better than the GoPro?

At taking stills, sure. At high speed video which they weren't designed for, no.

I might add that the quality is atrocious.

5 finger borrow?

Ask the peeps that run them if they know where to rent them or someone to run them.

650K per second?!
Yeah, um, that's basically for capturing movements the eye/brain can't even perceive. Things probably happening at the molecular level. Atom Colliders and such.

Too bad Ritz Photo isn't still around. They might have some gear they could have rented you.
