Playboy features its first transgender Playmate - October 20, 2017, 01:24 PM

Playboy will feature a transgender Playmate in its November issue, the magazine announced Wednesday.

French model Ines Rau, 26, will be the centerfold in the first issue to publish since Playboy's founder Hugh Hefner died in September.

While many women pose nude in the magazine, there is only one Playmate each month, who is featured as the centerfold. Rau is no stranger to the magazine, and previously posed fully nude in a May 2014 issue.

In a statement, Rau said the 2014 spread was how she celebrated coming out as transgender.

“I lived a long time without saying I was transgender,” Rau said in a statement. “I dated a lot and almost forgot. I was scared of never finding a boyfriend and being seen as weird. Then I was like, 'you know, you should just be who you are. It’s a salvation to speak the truth about yourself, whether it’s your gender, sexuality, whatever.'"

And while Rau is the first transgender playmate, she is not the first transgender woman to appear in a pictorial in the magazine. In 1991, Bond Girl Caroline “Tula” Cossey, who is transgender, posed for the magazine.

Rau, who hopes to fight for a slew of issues ranging from LGBTQ rights to battling global warming, said she had a feeling someday she would be able to achieve a better life.

“I always knew from within, when I was a little kid in my room in the ghetto, that a beautiful destiny was waiting for me,” Rau says. “I don’t know how to explain it. A little voice was telling me, ‘You’ll see. Patience.’ ”

Cooper Hefner, Playboy's chief creative officer, told the New York Times that choosing Rau as the Playmate "speaks to the brand's philosophy."

“It’s the right thing to do," Hefner told the Times. "We’re at a moment where gender roles are evolving.”

While Hefner stands behind his decision, the reaction from fans on social media was mixed. Many praised Rau's beauty, but others accused the magazine of using the model as a marketing ploy and "pushing" their agenda down readers throats.

Nah, I'm good.
I have no issues with the LGBTQ community. Live your life.
But the agenda pushing for inclusion in every avenue is becoming grating.
"Well I feel I'm a woman in the wrong body, and because I think I'm a woman I should be able to use the women's bathroom / locker room / dressing room, etc"
Despite your meaty Adam's apple, 5 o'clock shadow, and COCK dangling between your legs!

And now a patently heterosexual pictorial magazine leaning into gay / trans content? Why? It's moronic.

I'm sure there are speciality magazines made for men who want to view lady boys.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

I wonder if the LBGQT would be mad is some straight guy and gal models wanted to be in there mags?

Like if you had a trans mag and real women start to request to be included.

Dave Cheppelle kinda said it best... he said "pace yourselves" lol.

Kind of feel over night Boom! everything, every show is LBGQT.

Every other show is now throwing in a gay or queer twist for absolutely no reason. It feels contrived. Adds nothing to the plot or story.

I was watching Ozark on Netflix. 3 episodes in, boom, FBI agent announces he's gay and tries to kiss a hillbilly.

30 minutes later they're rolling in bed. What does this add to the story?

Omar on the Wire. One of the most seminal TV villains in history. Ending of Season 1, oh, he's gay. So the dark, fearless, grizzled stick up man with a penchant for hitting up drug spots suddenly likes young men? Is that supposed to add to his character dynamic - tuning up the homo-thug trope?

Tyrant, and on and on. Just ram fisting LGBQT in your face just because ... reasons. Don't misinterpret me there are times when it all perfectly integrates into the storyline.

Orange is the New Black has a transsexual inmate. Makes sense. OZ had inmates that were prison gay or turned out. Makes sense.
Hell, even Lord Gemma & his bi-relationship with Yurimaru and Benasito in Ninja a scroll makes sense and was plot additive instead of a distraction or Yuda's cross dressing and effeminate ways made sense for his fighting style in Fist of the North Star.

I gotta agree with you Heist. The whole Ozark thing was pointless.

It wasn't needed, but I think they wanted to make some kinda angle to pull the hillbilly in. he noticed that he was arrested for picking up men in another county...so he look at that as his way in....
This was legit reason to include it....

The dynamic was that this super bad ass dude who have the roughest of the roughest hood folks scared shitless...toughest of all....likes men. On top of that in a culture that do not take too kind to gay black men...he is open about it. Wide open and do not care and dare anyone to say anything about it.
I have to say when it was found out that he was gay...it drew me into the character way more. Just the fact that you never ever hear of anything like this....it was interesting. If he was just another tough hood thug... i would have like his character...but it would have still be just typical thug life.

Tyrant, and on and on. Just ram fisting LGBQT in your face just because ... reasons. Don't misinterpret me there are times when it all perfectly integrates into the storyline.

Tyrant....was not needed....On tv it always seems like a way to make an excuse for something secrete....vs. good writing.

she still had her dick right?
I have not watched season 5 yet, last i watched they stop giving her her meds
