Please pray for my friend's family... - March 23, 2006, 08:32 PM

*I know this is nonsportbike related, and I'm pretty sure no one cares but I have to let it out...* (sorry if there are typos)

Well, I found out that a friend of mine, Femi from school just passed away. He's 20 years old, athletic, and a very smart kid. We are in the same scholorship program together so we have some type of bond. One of the many good people I first met in college.

He died earlier at our school's gym (around 6pm - 7pm). Apparently, he was working out at the gym, about to play basketball, and I guess it was his time. I'm hearing 2 different stories. No so sure about the details yet.

I am hurt from this because he was a very good friend. And I just saw before going to my 3pm class. And it was so weird. I don't normally see him since he is in another major, Pharmacy, so we're on two different schedules. I see him around campus or at the gym. Femi would alwyas go out of his way to say hi to you. Well, anyways, I was leaving my library to go to class, and I was down from a shitty day already. I saw him, gave him a nod since he was talking to someone, I didn't want to interupt. About 30 seconds later, he yells out, "HEY SARMA. WHATS UP!" Something inside of me felt warma and I smiled. In a way I guess it was his way of saying goodbye in a warm matter.

Everyone from school is hung up about it. But it seemed like everyone saw him and talked to him before he passed...

I have never lost anyone, like a friend before. So, I am taking it hard but I know I'll be ok and I know he's in a better place.

He enjoyed basketball and tennis, I know heaven has nice courts unlike the city we live in, Philadelphia.

RIP Femi Ogunkorode (3/31/85-3/23/06) a week before his 21st birthday
We miss you very much...
Keep smiling...

I pray for your family at a rough time like this... we miss you.

I don't wanna be your b*tch. Say no to 2up!

I'm so sorry to hear. It's nice to see that he touched so many people.

It sounds like you're doing ok. If not, it sure helps to talk about it.
I was younger when I first encountered a loss (grandfather when I was 20), and I just remember thinking how unfair it was, and just mad at the world.

It's not to mourn death, but to celebrate the life that they had. I'm sure they would like to have it that way as well.

We're here for you if an ear is needed.

That's so sad. I know his parents are hurting tremendously. It's would be terrible to have to bury your child, especially one at such a prime age. I'm praying for you too.

Really sorry to hear this Sarma...And I completely feel your pain:

About 5 months after graduating from college (2002), a really good friend of mine passed away in a plane crash. He was 22 years old, a flight instructor, and a damn good pilot. He was the nicest guy I probably knew, and it was extremely sad to hear about him going. He was the same way...He'd go out of his way to say hi to you. And when he said hi to me, he always followed it up with "Hey Tim...Oh, and f*ck you too." Just a running joke that my group of friends had. Anytime another one of our friends and I get together, we invariably end up talking about him. We celebrate the good times we had with him and thank God that he was even in our lives at all.

About 5 months ago (early November) I lost another good friend from college. Some of you may have heard about the small plane crash in Leesburg. I knew that flight instructor from college, and he and I instruct at the same school. He was the happiest guy EVER, and he never had a bad thing to say about anybody. I think back all the time (especially when flying near the crash site) to him, and again, celebrate his life, not mourn his death.

Talking helps, I know my wife helped me through both of those situations...And if you ever need to talk, although I know we've never met...Hit me up.

RIP Femi...Although I never met you, sounds like you were one helluva guy.
