Police Serving Warrant Knock At Wrong Door - Shoot & Kill Innocent Man - July 17, 2012, 03:05 PM

This incorrect warrant service leading to the death of an innocent is becoming more and more commonplace.

I love the voice over from the police spokesperson: "Just a bizarre set of circumstances, but the bottom line is you point a gun at a deputy sheriff you're going to be shot."

Really, so an unidentified individual is banging at my door in the middle of the night, does not announce themselves as LE, is on my property illegally, is on my property with weapons without my consent, and has weapons drawn, therefore if I answer my door with my weapon it is OK for them to open fire irrespective of if they are even at the right address?

I have always been told if police come to your door, to NEVER open it - rather speak to them through the door and if they demand that you open it, tell them to knock it down if they're so inclined.

I love how the police now release that after searching his home, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia (i.e. most likely a couple of gram of pot and a bong/pipe) as if (1) they were supposed to be in his home to begin with and (2) it is germane to the shooting death in anyway.

Well I will say that if I was the police, sure I was at the correct address, and the door swung open with a man standing on the other side with a gun... I would shoot first.

It actually does seem like a series of unfortunate circumstance starting with whoever fucked up the address. The address fuck up is the problem here, not the shooting.

I have lived in a few "shady" neighborhoods. Twice I have been woken up in the middle of night by banging on the door. I never answered it gun drawn.

First time looked through the peep-hole and it was some crack out looking guy. I stayed quiet and covered the door from behind my kitchen counter. He eventually stopped banging on the door and left.

The second time was a different appartment with no peep-hole. I asked who was there, and the man identified himself as a fireman who was evactuating the building because of a balzing fire next door. I unlocked the door, backed up to a vantage point, covered the door, and asked him to slowly open the door. I did let him know i was armed. He opened the door. He was a fireman in full gear. I put pants on and evacuated.

Not opening the door wouldn't have helped this guy.. They would knock it down, then shoot him anyways.

Soooo... They found drugs in an illegal search, and are using them as evidence? Sounds about right...
