Pollen Allergies and wild honey - April 22, 2013, 11:44 AM

Anybody knows local stores that sell wild unfiltered raw honey? Trying to find a way naturally without poping pills.

Google for your local farmers market, a lot of health food specialty stores will have it too.

If you do this be sure to follow lemond's advice on distilled or boiled then cooled water. I'd even say go with distilled. it's .88 a gallon.

I like the nedi pot, takes a bit to get use to, but it works well, its like 10 bucks for a kit at any walgreens, cvs or grocery store. The honey though is just good, plus real honey doesn't separate in to sugar lumps and never spoils. The only food that doesnt spoil BTW; cause its bee vomit.

local honey doesn't work, it's just a myth. Go to your doc and get a nasal spray, that works.

I've got a friend who is keeping about 10,000 bees in his backyard in North Arlington. I'm waiting on him to harvest so I can get some wild honey. I have no allergies though, I just like free, tasty honey.

Local stores? Whole Foods has it too. Local honey? Farmers Markets maybe, there's one on 8th St NW between D and E Streets on Thursday afternoons as well as Dupont Circle and Eastern Market on weekends.

I've never seen anything disprove local honey as a cure. There are lots of holistic treatments that medicine is returning to even in a modern setting. For instance Navy Medicine just put out a BUMED for treatment based on accupuncture.

I get that tree and ragweed pollen aren't part of a bees pollen repertoire, but it truly seems to work for some people. My wife started using local honey from the farmers market last year and it worked great. Now that she's pregnant it's the only thing she can take and she hasn't had a single allergy issue all spring. So either the honey's working somehow, or her allergies are cured. Either way keeps me happy- I never realized how much some people spend on kleenex.
