I feel for those guys but at the same time I fear more the regime that will take over for him. There are dictators, then there are dictators in the Middle East.

I never understood how/why Egypt got lumped into the Middle East nomenclature? It's in Africa. It's an African nation.

Anyway, Egypt and their control of the Suez Canal makes them far too important to American oil interest (and by extension Saudi Oil suppliers) to let a non-friendly dictator get control of the country.

Whomever is going to be in control of the country next, they better play nice.

True. They would have to immediately declare Marshall Law - bring in the Reservist, and then it would be on. 1960's era riots would be back in effect.

I'm sure i can't speak for everyone...

But all the soldiers I trained got a long, thorough lecture on where their loyalties should lie.

I stressed the moral and legal imperative to disobey orders contrary to the constitution, and stressed that in a true civil uprising, their loyalties were not to the government, but to the people if they are justly rising against it.

I also stressed that the defense of the constitution against domestic enemies was every bit as important, if not more, than foreign enemies.

I used the writings of John Ross and Matthew Bracken to illustrate my point

I suspect much of the military would refuse to quell a large scale uprising.

Too bad Mohamed Bouazizi could not see what he has sparked, and that his suicide from the desperation of the injustice was at least not in vain.

One death has sparked revolution in 3 nations and caused change in 2.

Never let it be said that a single person cannot make a difference.
