Professional Movers? - June 21, 2010, 01:04 AM

I saw a thread from 2008, and just wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with movers in the area recently. Im looking at 2 guys and a truck currently. Any help would be appreciated.

Honestly...with that company it depends on the movers. When my Uncle moved, he hired them, decent price, bout $300 for 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms per day. The first day went great and everything got to his new place fine. Second day, different crew, they scratched up all his wooden furniture (not terribly bad), but they didn't let him know either.

Personally, I just move myself; grab a few of my boys and have it done in a day + uhaul and beer! But then again, I dont check my bike every hour'ish to make sure no one stole it...lol.

Stay away from Gullivers during the week. If it's a weekend then you're ok because it's mostly military dudes trying to make a buck on the side.

Do not do an estimate over the phone. Get someone to come out if possible. Make sure you have everything packed up and ready to go. That's usually how people end up getting raped on the bill.

Randell Moving and Storage. A few people I know have used them many times before and my gf's parents have used them a couple of times. They moved all the big furniture in our 4 bedroom house to a place about 1 hour away for $800.

My company uses Victory Van Corporation to move furniture in and out of job sites a lot. I talked to my contact there. he said they could move you from Silver Spring to Reston but not if you need to move in June. They are booked until sometime in July. Here is more info on them http://www.victoryvan.com/northern-v...es-movers.aspx

I have had really good luck with them and I know people at their Dulles office very well. Shot me a PM if you want the contact info I have.
