question for non smokers - December 15, 2009, 06:35 AM

Question to all you non smokers out there. Would you be in a serious relationship with someone that smokes? Has anyone started smoking because of their significant other?

no unless someone you have been with for awhile started smoking out of the blue.

But if I was out and met a chick smoking is on my top 5 turnoffs. But after some drinks a HITnQuit may be in order

I'd never start a relationship with a smoker. But if we'd been dating awhile and he started up, I'd have issues if he lied about it. Then he'd probably break up with me because smoking is filthy and disgusting and i would have to say that. Because I don't like smelling like a smokestack.

And with all the research out there, it's just plain stupid and weak to smoke.

So you can see how smoking would go over big with me...

Nope. I wouldn't. It sucks kissing them. Plus if they smoke in the house its that much worse. Youll never get that smell out even if they dont.

nope.. Its my #1 turnoff...
As soon as I see a cigarette touch the lips of a girl..
That's it.. DONE.. ZERO interest remains..
Kissing someone that smokes is just plain NASTY..
Even when they brush their teeth and swill mouthwash...
They can't freshen out their lungs and so its still nasty..

Yup like making out with an ash tray. Smoking is a major turnoff.

Are you crazy! LOL
First time I kissed a smoker was in 7th grade and she tasted like an ash tray. How do I know what an ash tray taste like? My dad was a chain smoker 3 packs of Marlboro a day. I picked up his ash tray one day and had to wipe my mouth and got ashes in my mouth. That's how I know. No difference between the two.

Back in my early 20's I dated a very light smoker and it was not too bad teasing her tonsils. Still could not take the smoke and ended it in four days.

Besides I can't tolerate cig smoke, makes my eyes bleed, nasal passages melt and makes my cloths and hair smell like shitz.
Fire smoke, I can bath in it and actually don't mind the smell as it brings back childhood memories of Harlem Apartment bldg's burning down all around me on a weekly basis.

I would never start smoking just because the SO did. My dad's lung condition is a big motivator not too. My mom and brothers don't smoke either.

Oh and don't even try to talk any sense to your new SO about quitting. They get offended, think they know better and will never quit anyways unless THEY really want to not because some one else wants them to.
It's a life long hassle really not worth fighting for.
People are people and I am sure a smoker won't tolerate things others may do. So why tolerate a smoker if it is not your thing.

No offense to all you smokers out there though. Do your thing.

Gonna have to agree with the rest. Not interested in kissing an ashtray. Or smell smoke when laying in bed or doing anything. That smell lingers in everything. Esp the hair and clothes.

As much as I would like to have a relationship, I don't want to the hassle of telling the other person all the time to chew gun, brush your teeth, take a shower...etc.

Thats just my 2 cents.

nope. If she already did when I met her and was committed to quitting, we could stay in touch until she did.

But if you are considering a long term and committed relationship than that means you have already been dating her while she was smoking. Telling her she has to quit now or lose you forever is pretty shitty. Kind of like a girl meeting you and digging everything about you, then when things get serious she tells you to quit racing.
