usque ad mortem bibendum!
Know why Bib is white? Because carbon was not added to tires until the 19-teens. Before that tires were beige or off-white.
Yeah, I know. More useless information......

But do you know why the SR-71 (or A-12) is one of the only aircraft on earth with silver tires?

He meant adding carbon black to rubber to improve temperature, wear, and bulk (not cords) strength. Silica (ultra fine quartz sand) is also used to modify the same factors.

Cords have been made out of steel, cotton, Kevlar, nylon, and a few other materials (I believe cotton was the first belting material used)

Even more random fact, rubber tires were enabled by the vulcanization (which results in cross-linking) process as natural rubber is too weak to bear any sort of loads. Vulcanization was invented when sulfur was accidentally spilled into a pot of melted rubber, resulting an a much harder and more structurally sound material.

There! And I didn't look ANY of that up
