Prince George

Prince George’s County has most crime-ridden Metro stations

11/15/10 2:15 PM EST

The top five Metrorail stations in terms of most crimes reported systemwide from July through September all are in Prince George’s County, according to a report by the transit agency.
Branch Avenue (end of the Green Line) recorded the highest number of crimes at 45 total, followed by 33 at New Carrollton (end of the Orange Line).
The Green Line’s Southern Avenue Station recorded the third-highest number of crimes with 24 during the three-month period. Largo Town Center on the Blue Line ranked fourth with 20 total crimes reported. Prince George’s Plaza on the Green Line was fifth-highest with 19 .
Virginia’s stations are among the safest in the system: Braddock Road (Yellow Line) and Vienna (end of the Orange Line) were tied the most crimes reported for the state’s stations with eight apiece.

Funny how DC actualy dont have as much crime....

DC stations don't have as much crime because they're in populated areas.
Go to a Green Line or Orange Line station over the MD line - they're (1) isolated (2) ghostowns after about 8pm.

It all makes for a fantastic combination for criminals.

The hood is still the hood underground.

I guess the only surprise is that Vienna made the list.

You can't blame Metro--it's the region.

I'm sure most of those crimes are breaking in to cars which is why DC stations wouldn't show up. Also, compare the paltry crime numbers and compare to the number of people who pass through everyday,it's nothing. It's still the safest subway system in the country especially now with the threat of terrorism which has increased security.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, it’s like this…A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

Prince Georges County cops can't be bothered with crime at Metro stops; they have to make sure the untaxed cigarettes and alcohol get through...

Where do you think the $80,000 in the bra came from?! Just from kickbacks from "contactors?!"
