Recording from FIOS to DVD - July 7, 2010, 07:16 PM

So I switched to FIOS about a week ago only to find out my DVD recorder can't record SPEED (ie all the motorcycle racing that is on a 3am or when I'm not home), apparently because of copy protection.
I missed all of the last WSBK races and MotoGP/2 at Assen.

I thought I had worked around it by running it through a VCR but I guess it only worked for the program that was on when I tested it. Early this morning I was able to record the MotoGP and Moto2 races to my Hi 8mm video camera. But getting up a 3am to start the camera is a PITA and that doesn't do anything for when I'm not home since there is no timer setting. And I still can't record from Hi8 to the DVD recorder.

Anybody know of any workarounds other than going back to satellite?

I'm able to record every channel I am able to view through FiOS DVR. IDK why yours is different unless you have TiVO or something.

I think he's trying to get his programs from the DVR to DVD. I've tried this and have had no luck. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to know.

P-L Production ---> MARRC TD

Buying a sportbike to go the speed limit (which you do not do in your car) is like buying a condom to look at it.

Do you buy a condom to look at it? No you buy it to fuck.
Thank you Rossi

Because I don't have one. And I don't think having one will make a difference.

I just want to record directly to DVDs, and to be able to do so when away.

I guess you could use a DVD recorder and just record like its a VCR. Or then again, you can setup a Unix box as a DVR, and record everything digitally.
