Recording from YouTube? - August 30, 2009, 07:08 AM

So my dad asked me the other night if it's possible to somehow capture the videos off YouTube - said "there's a lot of good music on there", and wanted to know if there is any way to save those tunes to his computer and then burn to a CD.

Anyone know? I haven't spent enough time looking at YouTube to know much about it. Also, keep in mind, my dad still forgets where the Start button is, and what it's for....

"Total Recorder" will record anything that comes through your PC speakers and save it as a .wav format.

Works awesome.

There's also a site called www.savevid.com that runs a server side app that saves the vid to your drive. Works very well, just sometimes a lil NSFW because it shows thumbnails of youtube vids people are uploading and watching, kind of a hit parade at that moment. It's the same content as youtube so pronz rarely show up, but sometimes the thumbs show partial nudity so you have to exercise some cation.
