I was nervous having moved from DC to VA in the middle of the year. I figured that at most i may get a few hundred dollars but Daddy made out this year! Anyhow e-filed this afternoon and looking forward to that return. Daddy needs a new Mountain Bike!

i stopped paying taxes in advance. The gov can bill me while i make interest off of what i would have given them.

I hope you have taken into consideration interest and penalties for underpayments. You should get as close to possible to break even without overpaying.

Don't expect your refund quickly, even if you e-file. If you have any chance of paying AMT then the IRS will not even process your return until mid February. Congress waited until the end of the year to pass another 1-year extension to AMT exceptions and it will take until Feb for the IRS to update their systems.

Maybe the IRS should contract out their systems to Quicken or Turbo Tax since those companies have already updated their programs.

I guess that's why working for the government sometimes does help. We have a program where I was able to print out my W-2's online as of this last weekend! But my W-2 did come in the mail today as well.

I owed a bunch of money last year - I doubt this year will be any different even though I had extra withheld.

I need to move to a lower cost of living area. Make less, get taxed less, everything costs less = wealthier.
