Post Responsive Web Design & Bootstrap: Developers, Tell me your Kung-Fu - June 25, 2014, 01:47 PM

Responsive Web Design...

Currently updating my knowledge about Responsive Web design for work, and we are urged to learn Bootstrap.

My long term projects at work is converting about 5,000 pages we own to mobile ready coding/responsive web.

I've been at it for a few months now, and converting and learning the new way to convert our sites to "Web 1st" philosophy is sticking....

But i feel as if I am playing catch up and looking for classes, books that will focus on what I need to be ahead of the Mobile ready game...

I am guessing that Adaptive web design is a thing of the past now? I was just starting to learn that when I got the new job. My game plan was to convert my two websites to Adaptive ready for mobile platforms....

I never heard of Adaptive Web Design until I got my new job. The people here just started a few months before I got here so i am not to far behind...

When I goto All Web hands on conferencing held by our main office, they stress learning Boot strap...

****Not sure if I have a question, but sort of want to talk to others who do this currently and may have some guidance or advice, places to look or classes for Bootstrap.

Currently me and two others on my team are thinking of hitting up NY and taking this class on Responsive Web Design....

What says you my technological motorbikers?

I will say this is interesting and I am learning on the fly with a Mobile style guide they gave me...so far ive converted 300+ old HTML to Mobile ready.

Meh. Wireframe first based on the requirments of an application. What works on a laptop doesn't always work on a phone due to size constraints. So the pages are completely different. Simple apps can transition fairly easily. But complex apps shouldn't bother trying IMO.

Pick up new JS frameworks if you want a more responsive web application. AngularJS, Ember, etc.

Emberjs is nice if you're familiar with Rails.

Ractive + flight is interesting.

I haven't used Angular.

I think you should just go with Struts and Tiles. Yeah, that's the ticket!
