Restaurants/Things to see in DC - June 27, 2010, 09:53 PM

Alright ladies and gents,

My uncle, aunt, and teen cuz are comin in to town in mid July, and I am to take them around the area. I have Baltimore and Annapolis covered to include a possible trip to OC.

I'd like to get some good suggestions for D.C. I am aware of the National Mall; that's pretty obvious. I would take them to the zoo, but after seeing some crazy monkey/elephant videos, I'd rather not. Maybe I'll just let them go on their own. I only really know places to party at night. They're not ideal in this situation, obviously. So...what you guys got?

Me and my girl went to the crime and punishment museum, and madame tusades last week. Madame tusades was wack, compared to the one in London, shouldnt take more than 45 mins. But hte crime and punishment musuem took about 2 hours and we rushed it Also theres the Smithsonian and if they are into art they have the art smithsonian. I hated it tho...

My suggestion is to take them on a Duck Tour. I took my parents on one when they came up here. It's a lot of fun, you go on land and water, you get to see a lot of stuff in the city, and learn some history at the same time.

Washington DC Land and Sea Tours. The DC Ducks Tour of Washington D.C.

Smithsonians

Navy yard has a pretty wicked Naval museum with a real submarine, large scale ships, and planes you can kill 4 hours easy there alone oh and that ship by the Nationals stadium is a part of it to you can explore the ship (not to mention the ship has COLD! AC)

Fort Washington

Arlington Cemetery (This is a must do not only is it a serene and sacred ground , some of the most amazing views of the city are from the cemetery)

If you do Arlington Cemetery walk to or from the Iwo Jimia Memorial

I loved the crime and punishment museum, however it took me about 3.5 hours, and I still feel like I could go back and spend more time...

Spy Museum is cool, but the Zoo sucks if its damn hot outside. None of the animals want to come out except the otters - who only come out to get in the water. Just about all the other animals are under shade and sleeping.
