The return of the firebird... - August 11, 2010, 01:31 PM

When GM dropped Pontiac, the Firebird seemed gone forever. But it's now been resurrected as the Firebreather. It will sell for around $60,000 but for that you get a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that churns out 599hp.

Oh wonderful. In classic Chevy style they've rebadged their Camaro SS and threw on a blower. I'll still bet this thing is heavy as balls and the Shelby GT500 beats it.

Glad they kept the Camaro's ugly as hell interior and just put a big gaughty firebird on the steering wheel

Front and rear end are both different. The Camaro and Firebird have always been built on the same platform, why you expected that to change is beyond me.

Straight line, I'd put my money on the Firebird, but that's just me.

In the corners, I'd put my money on a Corvette Rossi.

I actually like the car, but the name is gay. Why didn't they just call it a firebird?

Probably because Pontiac is gone. Not sure what line they're going to launch it under, but it is at least a bit nostalgic.

ok so they changed the trunk and lighting and put a stupid bird nose on the front bumper, thats it. I didn't expect them to do anything but suck as they have continued to do for years. I was just hoping they might smarten up and do something different instead of trying to make a cobra contender that is still priced higher than it.

Firebreather will be a flop is my guess but I do applaud them for giving it a shot.

I kinda looks like a Charger with the old Fire Bird front end. I'm not really fealing it.

I don't think the Firebird has ever been wildly successful, as can be seen by the non-existence of Pontiac. However, the nostalgic value is still there.

doesn't sound like this is suppose to be released by GM at all. it seems like it's a release by an aftermarket company as a modified camero:
