Richmond Recommendations - May 2, 2007, 08:56 PM

OK, heading down to Richmond for the weekend. Can anyone recommend any good bars, restaurants, or just fun places to go?

Yeah, I figured we'd end up in the bottom We're going down Friday afternoon just to hang and go out and stay the night, then the race Sat and staying Sat night as well. Figure that ought to get us enough time to hit a few places in the bottom or slip. I don't know anywhere good to go in the Fan anymore though.

This are all good places, however i think Bottom's Up is gone now, since the last flood, i think that place was torn apart.

Your safest (and i do mean safest) bet is to hit up Shockoe Bottom. Parking isn't too bad, and they are bike friendly. Plus there are a decent number of mixed bars down there, like Tiki Bob's, and Have a Nice day Cafe (previously floodzone).

There are other places to go, but some are spread out and what not. This way you can bar hop if you want. Get ready for sticker shock, haha, cause things are definitely cheaper.

OMG Bill's FTW!!! "A trial makes a customer!" I love Bill's. Lived in Richmond for a couple of years about 17 years ago. Always stop and get a limeaide and a sandwich when there.

Drive a little south and check out the bike shops.

There is a Harley dealer, Burcham's Cycles, and another (very nice) custom shop ... all in Colonial Heights.

Excellent prices.

I drive my bike down there to Burcham's for all my Major services ... it's literally half the price of Coleman's. Tell Dave in Parts (the 50 year old guy with the Pony Tail) that Magic-Rat said, "hi" (he used to be my neighbor).

ah burchams...i remember the days. I can't believe the moved over to that new location, its a little tough to get to if you aren't looking for it, and then its right down the road from the shady part of oaklawn blvd.

that area is really blowing up, now that i moved away, haha.

Thanks for the Harley info! My buddy that I'm going with is a Harley guy. We always have to stop at dealerships when we travel
