roadtrip! Stowe, VT. this weekend - March 31, 2011, 11:52 AM

so i am pretty spontaneous. i just decided last night that i wanted to snowboard one more time this season. the rain that we are getting is snow up in Vermont. Stowe is supposed to get 6inches on Friday.

i am leaving northern virginia tomorrow around noon-ish and driving up by myself in an awd subaru. probably 10 hours. i could really use some help with gas, tolls, and staying awake. i am driving back sunday afternoon.

if you snowboard, sweet! i got a B&B room you can crash in if you want.

if you want me to drop you off at the ben and jerry factory for the weekend, it is right around the corner

if you have some other location you would rather go to that is fairly close to Stowe you can PM me

if you want to go to Montreal, its about 2.5 hours away ehh

any takers??

VERY TEMPTING! But I can't dish out that kind of flow right now. Haven't been on a board since mine got stolen from a mountain a couple of years ago.

i snowboarded this past weekend at 7springs.. YouTube - onel0wcubn's Channel

and why go all the way to stowe when camelback is still almost 100% open... they have something like 33 trails open last time i checked.. thats only 4 hours..

7 springs is open this weekend too i think for the pond skimming..

i did some quick research because i have never heard of camelback. they have 33 trails and 800ft vertical drop.

stowe has 116 trails and 2360ft vertical. stowe is located on the tallest mountain in Vermont with a summit elevation of almost 4400ft. stowe's snow base right now is same as the total average snowfall camelback gets in a whole year.

i went to 7springs for the first time back in December. i would rather drive a couple more hours to snowshoe if i am going to stay "local". this trip is basically just capitalizing on this winter system that is moving through the northeast right now

Dude. Go. I was just at Smuggs last weekend, in the glades the powder was up to my knees! It snowed Sat. morning, ~2" at the bottom and 6" at the top.

Those trails straight ahead are Stowe.

There's 3 feet of snow on the ground up there and counting. That sounds like a good reason to drive 6hrs. longer to me. I've ridden down there and it's just not even a comparison to anything up in VT.

The drive should be like 10-11hrs. one way and ~1250 miles round trip. Swerve those pot holes once you get past Burlington, they get nasty.
