Ron Paul's FINAL Speech To Congress - November 15, 2012, 07:32 AM

That's right...Ron Paul will officially retire from Congress at the end of this year after 20+ years. This is a long speech (just under 50 min) but every sentence of it makes So Much Sense that it is worth watching to the end.

I wholeheartedly wish I was listening to this speech as his first State of the Union address. I swear to you that if neither him or someone like him make it into office, this country will eventually implode.

BTW...to all those that think he's a quack because he espouses the gold standard, ending the war on drugs, or limiting our military presence in the world...please note that he speaks truth of what he believes and his principles, but he has also made it clear in the past that he is well aware of the reality that none of these policies can be changed overnight and some might not have any way of being achieved any more. But the principles are solid and TRUE, and make much more sense than anything that is in place right now.

RIP to Congress for losing its most adamant voice of moderation.

P.S. See, it is possible to be a Social Liberal AND Fiscally Conservative

When America is ready for true change, she'll vote for Ron Paul or someone like him.

He's the only guy who doesn't change his beliefs based on public sway. I like him. Voted for Gary Johnson.

+1 to all of the above.

I listened to this yesterday on cspan while browsing the web, and found myself unable to pay attention to the computer. What I was hearing on TV kept grabbing my attention.

Both sides (maybe even more on the GOP side) like to paint him as a lunatic. It's unfortunate that the truthers attached themselves to him.

We'll find out over the next decade or so whether or not he's crazy.

"We need an intellectual awakening."

People don't want to talk politics. Don't feel like they have any effect or power. We have been disenfranchised by the career politicians we placed and they have used this to spoon feed election ads and do what they want in office. Cumulatively the United States is too stupid, and too fat to get out of it's own way. Americans don't want the truth, they want the promise that they can get subsidized things, and continue their standard of living.

It's a sad day. I feel like Ron Paul was that last little chock keeping us from rolling backward. One crazy, rational voice amidst the screaming, ranting, backslapping right and left.

Edit: Pretty interesting to look back on these old political discussions. Smart people can't see the forest for the trees.

By the time enough people in this country wake up and realize that they need to change, there will be no voting for anyone. That's my official prediction.

I listened to him speak today on NPR or Cspan radio and he flat out said that he ran with the republican party because due to our system there was no way he'd ever enter the debates or the media to put out his message if he ran as a libertarian.

He openly said that the only way that the libertarian message will ever take a real foothold is for people like him to "infiltrate" both the republican and democrat parties. And he is 100% right. Maybe this next election with both democrat and GOP primaries we might get lucky and see revolutionaries trying to appeal to both parties and increase chances that we might actually have the chance to elect one. I don't care what party they try to run with, I'll vote for them.

Serious question.

Does anyone think there will be a breaking point to lead to something similar to cival war? Maybe not in the same way as our past, but similar.

The seceding jokes are just that...but you never know..

Or are folks too damn lazy with their starbucks and will continue to take it up the rear?

Yes....

the secession jokes might be jokes for you, but a lot of people are serious. More serious than in the past.

It could eventually become a major issue. States voting referendums on withdrawal from the union, etc.
