a friend sold me his evo on the cheap and i'm trying to root it with no luck. stuck at the revolutionary invalid beta key. Does anybody have experience with this? or is there a place where i can get it rooted and flashed? also the phone is not connected

Have you looked on XDA-developers? If not, just google it and you find tons of information. I rooted my friends EVO 4G (Sprint) with a simple one-click root a few months ago without any problems.

yeah that was on froyo, this one has gingerbread so i have to do the beta. alot of people are having a similar prob cording to the comments. there is stand at city place that may be able to do it for me. gonna check it out. xda is what i am trying

You are right, he was/is still using froyo when I did the one-click method. Hopefully it will work out, good luck.

I'm not 100% on the EVO, but I know alot of phones you could get an old updater to flash it back to Froyo etc.. then root it from there.

i read that too

*update
i was in the process to downgrade when a program i was supposed to use to downgrade gave me the serial number which was not the one on the battery. Now beta key works and im rooted
