RV generator carb cleaning - September 12, 2011, 09:56 AM

Anyone know a small engine repair place near Fairfax or NOVA will pull a generator from an (SMALL) RV and clean the carb and get it running again?

You can't get at the carb without dropping the gen and its HEAVY. I also have no place to work on it, so I just want to take it somewhere and get the gen running again. (just sat for a long time with gas in it I guess)

The generator is practically brand new and when I went to the RV dealer the only thing they offered was a complete replacement. What BS..

I can't find there contact info. They were recommended by Safford RV so you can give them a call and ask.

Of course they probably put a sticker on my genny so I can check it.

I had Restless Wheels do some refrigerator work on my 40' diesel RV and it was an absolutely horrible experience. Also had them do a RV satellite dish and it was a disaster. Steer clear from them!!

Expensive but job-done-right is the RV place off of I-66 and route 29m Raines. Recommend them.

Get a harbor freight atv lift, shop manual, drop the generator, soak the carb in pine sol. Then blow it out with compressed air.

What's the worst that could happen....you have to install a new generator? You already know how much that will cost!

We've had work done by Reines, Restless Wheels and Safford. Not super happy with any of them, but was least disappointed by the work done at Reines. Most angry with Safford.

A friend took his to Motor Home Camper Travel Trailer Sales | Centreport RV Stafford County Virginia | New Used Consigned Recreational Vehicles, Pop-up Campers, Storage, Parts, Accessories and was reasonably satisfied with the work performed there.

I believe Safford recommended a place called E&M Engines down in Thornburg for our generator work. I Googled it and it looks like the right place based on my memory of where they were located. 540-582-6676 is their number.
