Anyone know of a good mechanic shop that will do safety without rapping you arms and legs?

Was going to send you a PM but I'd think that Great Falls would be closer for you. The station I go to is in Manassas, cool guy always giving me about my "POS" bike and car.

I went to the Centreville Goodyear on 29 right between 66 and Stone road. The inspection guy rides a harley and was pretty cool with my inspection. I have flush mount LEDs and integrated rear turns with my hot bodies under tail. He just made sure they worked. He checked the brake pad thickness, tire tread (mine were brand new), horn, high/low beam, and made sure both hand lever and foot lever turn the brake light on.

I also walked right in and had it done. I did pay $15 since he was about to leave, but I don't care about the $3 extra. Just be nice and you shouldn't have a problem.

Any gas station that inspects cars inspects bikes. The crappier the station the easier it is to pass.
