EDIT !! Saw this on another site. Rider assistance directory ...What do you think? - September 17, 2008, 09:03 PM

Rider Assistance list???? I signed up there.

Good idea for .net???

They have compiled a list of members who would be willing to help others out in need. The list is only distributed among the participating members, and will not be posted on the site. Lists would be sent via email to those invloved.

Here is some of the info they had listed...
- name
- site name
- city, state of residence
- phone number

Type of assitance available:
- technical assitance with repairs needed during a ride
- truck or trailer available for bike transport/pickup
- tools or garage space available for quick repairs

The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Obviously could be tailored for our site.

So if Joe Rocket breaks down in Harrisonburg, instead of calling his roomate in Woodbridge to come pick him up, Joe could call John Deer who's right around the corner for assitance.

What do you think??

I was thinking of making a list for our site specifically.

Yes, If there are enough people interested, I will start another thread for that purpose.

And Just to point out my computer and skills are limited for mass mailings, so that would have to be worked out as well.
And the fact that I cannot access .net at work, would mean all would be done in the wee hours of the night.

Oh, and for the record, I am getting this from an FJR site I belong to. I think it's a great idea. Their site members are regularly traveling cross country and made this list to help each other out in case something did come up.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, itís like thisÖA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

No, that would be a good for the list also. Don't always remember those things when they count.

Good idea, we had a similar list on dotCOM but for ICE and medical info in case someone went down on a ride. There were 8 of us that had an updated list with a calling tree set-up. Guess you could expand it to include ICE info as well?

Chris, if you gather all the info, I can type it up for you.
I'm in. This is a great idea. Reminds me of when GhostRyder got a flat tire on 211. Instead of calling his roommate in Ashburn, he could have called a few of the Westerners...
