I realize that cooking the books happens everywhere. But you'd think someone with such a "target" on their back would have more discretion.

Government records obtained by The Associated Press indicate that Sharpton and his business entities owe nearly $1.5 million in overdue taxes and associated penalties.

"Whatever retaliation they do on me, we never stop," Sharpton said. "I think that that is why they try to intimidate us."
(Just who is he refering to when he says "US" ?)

Tax headaches are nothing new
The 53-year-old minister has been assailed over his career for running up big tax debts and failing to abide by rules governing his charities and election committees. He is perpetually being sued for failing to pay his bills.

Guess this is the "mans" fault also Rev.

Apparently the Rev is "the man," now... and he's not looking out for his employees... for shame.

The group has also been trying to pay off tens of thousands of dollars it owes for failing to properly maintain workers compensation and unemployment insurance.

And of course, auditing someone for failure to pay taxes or investigating someone for BREAKING THE LAW is the same as attacking someone because you don't agree with his political/religious/moral beliefs.

Stoopid. One has nothing to do with the other.

I am certain if any of us owed that kind of money in taxes--high-profile politicos or not--we'd get the same IRS microscope up OUR asses... what kind of persecution could we cry? (Answer: none.)
