semi-political... more explanitory - June 6, 2007, 03:23 PM

Sometimes the stuff you say gives people impressions. Although what you said was accurate it doesn't really define your entire line of reasoning, and therefor may seem unreasonable to someone of a different persuation. Even if fully explained they won't agree.

Suffice to say, I like a free society, I feel it's getting less "free" every day, I don't want my kids hopping jersey barriers and walking through metal detectors to get to the Air and Space Museum... not to mention thier own schools.

I have a theory of escalation, that escalating enforcement ceases to work and actually makes the law breaker smarter, better equipped, and more deadly. It's a loss of confidence in the construct... that is why we are dealing with all these violent phenomenon like Waco, the school shootings, cop killings, and in turn cops killing innocents. I also feel that to instill a moral obligation and engage the public is better than to frighten them with losses of freedoms and unempowerment (monetary or otherwise).

I do NOT hate cops. That is a misrepresentation of my dissatisfaction with the priorities of the growing police presence in our communities. There was a time when people felt the police force was working FOR them and not AGAINST them, and that time is past. Why???

The things I hate:
Injustice
Powermongering
The empowered being irresponsible with thier power
Mob mentality
The status quo drifting downward on a slippery slope and that being "acceptable" because it's status quo

The things I like:
Passion and intelligence
Thinking unhindered by predjudice, preconception, or party
Pride, courage, and moral character
Cops (with pride, courage, and moral character)

I make no distinction between the police and a person. I DO, however, hold them to a higher standard because they are empowered, educated, and expected to deal with problems with out predudice.

There's my blog bitches

Ben, good luck trying to communicate where you're coming from. I listened for months and never heard the same argument... you might try the analogy of the British police officers with only battons - that made sense to me.

I think the bigest problem is the, I don't give a shit about anyone else so fuck them attitude in this country. People do not want help others out as much nor get involved when someone needs thier help. We only want to see cops around when someone else is breaking the law not us. And we do not own up to our mistakes and aplogize for them. We need to revamp the whole system from the top down!!

If you can't at least understand of what's written above, that isn't really a problem from this end. Escalation was not really the subject.

The Brits have very strict gun laws too, right?

For a long time I was very much opposed to gun control. Unfortunately, they fall into the wrong hands too often. I still feel that honest, kind-spirited people ought be able to have them. However, what is must never be confused with what ought to be. At this stage, I'm only saying that we have a problem. I'm not strongly advocating for gun control laws as the solution.

Ben, I think your point is reasonable.

Interchange "president" with current policy and "troops" with cops. And then toss in a "if you don't like it here move somewhere else" and that about sums it up.

Its good to know I'm not the only one this happens too

I think Ben can actually out-"hate" me...I'll need a judgment from Liam, Marc, Matt, and Bexxx though. He's certainly trying. For now I retain my title as King of the Haters

Just wipe your ass with the American flag some more, Ben. I hear the stars really help keep the dingle berries out. Then, return to Der Vatterland und trinken ein große bier mit Ich.

Bier?
... Ich bin Ihr Held. Folgen Sie mir. Macht, während ich sage. Frauen: Nehmen Sie Ihre Höschen heraus.
