Set off the house alarm - May 13, 2008, 01:23 PM

Got home yesterday to the house alarm beeping due to our land line going dead. In the process of trying to clear the fault indicator, I manually set off the alarm. My first thought, "FACK!". Then, "Oh, wait, the land line is dead. No worries" After punching some more buttons, I finally turned off the alarm. I still couldn't get the fault from the phone line to go away.

So I head to the couch for a few minutes of GTA4, our female rottie barks and I pay no attention. Bout 30 seconds later, DING-DONG and a very strong knock at the door. Peek out the window for FedEx or UPS, nothing, so I figure it's someone soliciting some bs. I head downstairs and open the door. No one immediately in sight, so I start to poke my head out and Officer Outlaw pops his head around the corner...."Good afternoon" he says, "Everything OK?" After a brief exchange of words, and having him check me, all was good.

I was later informed by the wife, that when the alarm guy was there 3 months ago, they updated our alarm with a cell backup, in case the land line was dead. Ooopsie.

hahaha nice one.

My gf has an alarm installed in her house mostly to protect the garage. Well one morning, shortly after having the alarm installed, she was in the shower and her daughter opened the back sliding door to let the dog out. Well the alarm goes off and instead of running to get her mom, her daughter decides to ignore it/hide/think she is in trouble. Anyway my gf comes out of the shower a short time later and she notices a sound. Thinking its her clock alarm going off she finishes getting dressed and proceeds to walk into the bedroom and realizes it wasnt the clock. She goes flying downstairs to find 3 cop cars out front of her house and two cops looking into her house from the bay window, her daughter hiding in the corner crying and another cop beating on the door. All of this while the alarm is still going off, her dog is barking like crazy and she is just so freaking confused. After 20 min of questions and my gf scratching her head and a couple "i dunno's" from her daughter the cops left and she calls me up as i respond with "HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA"
