When I don't want to carry something heavy because I am walking, jogging, or even moutain biking... I carry this.

Small, light, effective.
Is it as effective as my .40 or .45? Absolutely not
Is it a better alternative to being unarmed? ABSOLUTELY!

I like that sheriff. I think the general point was that natural selection needs a little help in that instance and a few more trained CCWs would expedite the process in the right proximity.

Tasers also work. If you turned up the amperage somehow it's almost guaranteed to kill no matter where you hit them on the body.

You said you can draw and shoot in 1 second, hopefully you're 100% every time, because as you know it takes 1.5 seconds to draw and shoot when you're standing still. The average man can cover a distance of 21 feet in 1.5 seconds from a stand still
I can shoot a gun as fast or fasterbthan I can grab a can of spray and spray someone. Ever fired spray?

Thus, gun is more effective. Same time frame, more lethal results.

Also... it is easier to mace accidently mace yourself then shoot yourself. IMO

Also... you almost inadvertently mace yourself to some point. Its directional, but it is ai rborn, and even a little non-direct spray will fuck up most people. This is why law enforcement trains getting maced. So when they use mace and they know how bad its going to be and can function even under a little blow back.

Hey fuck it. Let people try to use mace against armed assailants. Pour some chlorine in the gene pool

I shot spray once but don't really remember what happened so I can't say I have any real experience using it, which I guess invalidates my argument. *shakes fist

Tough to aim, tough to draw and put your finger on the trigger.(not as natural as a gun), and the blowback issue. Plus it tends to not immediately stop people. Last time I was sprayed it took several seconds before I was incapacitated. I could have done a lot of damage in that time
