This shit enrages me - December 14, 2007, 11:38 AM

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/14850031/detail.html

That poor 4 year old must have been scared out of his/her mind, and so hungry. You can't put little kids in situations like this, where they can't understand and have to fend. This kind of shit is permanently emotionally scarring for a little kid.

Why is it the people why should have kids don't and some stupid crack whore manages to pop out three in under 5 years...

I read in the paper just yesterday about a bitch swinging her 4-week old infant around by the ankles to hit her fucking boyfriend. The child is in intensive care I think, with a fractured skull.

I don't understand how people...who know they can't take care of these kids...don't think of other alternatives (adoption) so these kids (who didn't ask to be brought into this world) can be taken care of by a loving family...

sad

Man, I've been raising kids my entire life (not related to me even)
I've seen them grow up from new borns till they are in elementary and some now in college.

I just can't understand how you could do this to them....but hey now they are in a productive system, getting the care they need and hopefully find a good home.

hopefully now they have a better xmas

Well, not as bad as that lady who put her infant in the microwave.

My daughter as much as falls down and I want to destroy gravity for causing it. I can't even conceive how anyone does such things to a child.

Made me sick too. I was brought-up not to strike a woman. In that situation, I would immediately drop that woman with my hardest punch to her face, and hopefully take the child from her arms as she drops limp to the ground. Put me in jail for it! No problem. That's time I'd gladly serve. I don't know the details, of course. But there's no excuse I'd care to hear.

That is bad. I hear so much messed up stuff at work I have become desensitized to it. I have heard much worse. Not even going to post any of it for confidentiality reasons, but believe me as bad as that was it could have been worse. Who knows the whole story of those children’s lives, it is probably much worse then neglect. When kids get taken out of situations like that they get sent to facilities like my work. The parents leave people like me and society at large to deal with their mistakes. It makes me furious.

Nevermind what members of a given society do to each other, it's what they do to their own children that reflects most accurately on the general state of affairs. Let's face it, we are bad off, and we're getting worse every day, despite what our self-styled philosophers say to the contrary.

Unfortunately, I'd say this isn't a new problem. It's getting worse, yes, but it's much more advertised and televised now than ever.

My parents would beat me and use emotional abuse as a parenting tool; I've never touched my kids in anger because of that. But many people raise their children the way they were raised. I see it right here in my condo building.

Until society addresses the problem, it will persist. In the case of the Detroit family, the mother will most likely not get any productive help. The children will grow to mistrust anyone who shows them love. The cycle continues.

The effects of this gross abuse could manifest themselves in this childs life for as long as he/she is alive. We absorb most of the inputs that mold our personalities before we are six years old. Trust issues, dependency issues, problems with relationships.... all these things might very be huge hurdles that will impede this young person for the next few years.

I can only hope that someone will have the where-with-all and foresight to keep these feelings on the surface and deal with them appropriately. Irresponsibility of this magnitude is far greater than drunk driving or speeding... yet you wont see those commercials to threaten you on weekend TV...

The only excuse the parents might have, is that they were forced to leave their kids at gun point and killed.
