Shooting across the street. - December 17, 2012, 09:34 AM

So late yesterday one of my neighbors kids got shot 8 times while arguing with I guess 2 people he knows while standing in the front door. The kid who did the shooting sprayed enough bullets to also tear into the next door townhouse. This house also has a kid that my son plays with and my son normally is in this house playing video games when the weather is not good. With all the shootings going on i would have thought this shooting would have made the news but I guess not enough people got shoot to warrant the news to show it.

And just a thought. There is no way anyone could have stopped this from happening because it took about 30 seconds from start to finish. I am not in favor of gun control but this shit is getting way out of hand. I thank god my son was not in this house or the one next door when this happened.

To say this is because of all the violence in our society well yes and who are the ones that watch all the violence? We all want shock and awe in our lives. Well this shock and awe crap needs to end soon.

Take a breath and dust off your skirt. I dont know what sheltered existence you lived in until now, but the real world has violence in it. Nationally, we have some of the lowest crime rates that have ever been recorded in the existence of this country.

Violent video games and guns didnt cause the shooting in your neighborhood. Government dependency, lack of a father, and poor parenting did. The only realy way to combat it is to instill into your children the concept of situational awareness at all times. Its no guarantee that high SA will save him, but it will give him a better chance than the sheep grazing and waiting for their Obama Shepherd to guide them.

Overall, we live in peaceful times. Much more so that what was perceived to be the case back in the Leave it to Beaver days. Except now there is mass media, Facebook, Twitter, and the like, so you hear about ever crime comitted anywhere.

See right there in your 1st sentence you say some derogatory remark to me. This is the shit I am talking about. Right off the bat I will assume everything else you say is just crap.

My first question is what kind of bullshit are the people in your neighborhood involved with? Behavior like that is often tied to criminal activity.

Actually, youre right and I was out of line in trying to make my point. Its just that the last few days have been full of pearl clutchers looking to make something, anything to blame for abhorrent behavior.

If you want something to blame - blame Lyndon johnson, blame idiot Feminists who told women they dont need men, blame liberal teachers who didnt reinforce the concept of responsibility in children, blame shitty parents, especially fathers for abandoning their sons and letting them grow up like a crooked vine with no guidance.

Well not sure. Never had any problems from these kids. Before this they where known to be very good kids. Yea this has taken all of us by surprise.

Very scary stuff. I have never been in favor of gun control, but I am starting to reconsider the idea of strict handgun laws. Mass shootings with assault style rifles make the news, but handguns kill a whole lot more people every year. As a motorcyclist, I hate to tread on other people's recreation or other peoples ability to protect themselves. People try to take away and restrict our hobby all the time, so I understand how frustrating it must be for lawful gun owners who would never fire on another person except to protect themselves or others from harm.

I wish there were easy answers, but there are no easy answers to this problem. If there were, they would have been implemented long ago.
