Should The Redskin's Have Picked Up Vick? - September 27, 2009, 08:41 PM

Simple enough question.

Given they already tried to off load Campbell in the off season and Zorn is a West Coast offense guy who needs quick, mobile QB's who can gun the ball without being super conservative with the arm.

And the Skin's two backup QB's are hmmmm... at best.

Should the Redskin's have made a stab at picking up Vick during the offseason?

Hind sight is always 20/20. Even though they did try to get Cutler and Sanchez.

Sanchez would have been the pick! Quick in the pocket and a gun for an arm, but its a moot point now since we will most likely have a mystery coach come next Sunday against Tampa Bay.
P.S. Fuck Dan Snyder. When will the NFL start firing owners, he is the biggest anchor on the "team"

The Eagles have Vick and start Kevin Kolb while McNabb is out...Vick would solve nothing for the Redskins.

Collins had a rating of 106 in 2007, Kolb had one good game this week and a decent one prior. Vick was in prison w/ a QB rating of 0 for two years.

The Redskins have bigger issues than picking up a Vick, or T.O., or Pac Man, or whatever shock talent may be available.

It all comes down to being able to get players on the same page as the coaches and instilling the fact that the players can go out and take chances which Cambel lacks.

Coaches need to motivate these guys and get them all on the same page

Snyder is a douche and worthless as an owner

I wanna start out with fuck Snyder! Yes we should have picked up vick! He came out of jail in better shape then he went in how did he lose a step? After 3 years out of the league he was able to play a "preseason" game with a better average then he left with. Do I think this will solve all of our problems? NO Zorn really has no clue and I can't stand his play calling! If anything we need a new head coach. The talent is there! Look at the cowboys no matter how many star players or money is dumped into there franchise they still lack as a team.

Kevin Kolb could NEVER be a permanent replacement for McNabb.
Vick could...

Vick was as starting QB and knows how to run an offense. He looked decent in the preseason.

And for only $1MM a year, WHY NOT?!!

Our problem lies largely in the fact that Campbell is largely unmotivated. There are teams where the QB has to earn his job, Campbell has had the convenience of being able to perform moderately... To the point of being largely immobile, unable to slide!!!, poor at throwing on the run, and average at passing inside the pocket. His receivers have been exceptional, often making yards out of difficult passes, and with Portis as a workhorse we've limped through the series.

Jasons stats look good, the reality is that his performance is mediochre at best, and very irregular. He is not a playmaker, he never takes chaos and turns it to our advantage. He is the type of player that works well unhurried in the pocket, with receivers onroute, but thats not the Skins in the NFL, and any break from that finds him flying with little or no ability to effect yardage. Blame the o-line, blame whatever, there are QBs like Big Ben who consistently make lemonade out of lemons, and that's one of thegreat reasons for their teams success.

Watch him. He is noticeably slower. Even coaches are saying he's in the 4.5 to 4.6 range now, vs. the 4.3 speed that made him as good as he was athleticism wise. And his amazing completion percentage numbers that preseason game were from a shovel pass, a screen pass, and a 5 yard drag. If he has to play a regular season game as the full time starter, people will see that. He wasn't a good QB in the NFL before he left. He was a great athlete, and his speed/quickness saved his ass.

Here's something to think about. As soon as Jeff Garcia left Oakland, why didn't the Redskins pick up the phone? He is good with a west coast offense and has proven that he can easily adapt to teams. But that "might" have addressed one issue. I think the o line is complete crap. Any quarterback in the league that is considered to be good has a great line in front of them.

Why get another Todd Collins? He's old....no future. This is why Garcia is a backup to a backup....and you want to start that???

doubtful that Brennan will be more of an answer next year. Skins will have to trade their way to a starter. Whether or not JC deserves it is mute, they will lose him after this season.
