Shoveling help. New baby born. No power. Long drive way - February 6, 2010, 11:13 AM

Hello all,
This might seem a little weird request but I know there is a lot of people in this board that are willing to help people in need.
Well, I have a new born (4 days old) and a 18 month old. I hope that some of you guys are able to lend me a little help. I have about 80 feet x 20 feet of drive way. As of right now I'm stuck. My power has been coming and going. I'm afraid that I loose it completely. I'm fear full for my new born. I put on the news for few minutes and now they have reports of roof collapsing. Ive been shoveling snow all night and I just can't keep up
As of right now I can't get the cars out of my driveway if I need in case of an emergency.
If any of you out there can give me a little hand clearing my drive way I would be forever in debt to you. I think I have about over 10 inches in the drive way and I cant' keep up. They are calling for another 10 all day today. I'll out there attempting to clean. Not sure if I'll be able to check responses as my power has been coming and going. But you can call my cell. Its fully charged.
I live in Falls Church (Behind Tyson's Corner mall). My cell 703-861-6937

Going to try and head out your way in a few minutes, got to get out of our driveway first with a 2wd Exploder. I will call you when and if we can get out of our neighborhood.

Would help! Are you single? What kind of physical payment would you provide?

I would help but I am in Sterling with a couple babies I need to help with. Good luck.

Don't go out unless you have a 4x4. I helped 5 different types of vehicles get unstuck today, one of which was my own 4x4 frontier. I'd help but I'm way to worn out. Hopefully someone close can lend a hand.

Hey man,

Just saw this.

If you still need help I can get to you from Centreville. Rescued my GF's brother today...

I'm not doing anything tomorrow if you need help getting out.

If you lose power tonight; call my cell anytime and I'll get you, the Mrs', and you're wee ones to wherever you need to go.

I don't have the room to put you up unfortunately (800 sq ft townhouse, and we already have a houseguest!). If I can help you get somewhere though; let me know!

PM'ed

Thanks guys for your replies.
I spent 5 hours shoveling non-stop. I'm now finally done cleaning things and getting everything ready incase I need to get out of the house in an emergency. My wife is also in delicate conditions having given birth 4 days ago. Thankfully we did not loose power today and we have everything ready in case of an emergency. I was just not able to get things ready because we were at the hospital for the last 3 days after my son was born.
My main concern was being able to get the driveway clear so I can get the cars out if needed. One thing I sill need is to clear the sidewalk. Some dumb plow blocked half of my driveway entrance with a 5 foot wall of snow. Its all compacted and rock solid. My little shovel wont do much. I can get the cars out if needed but its going to be a pain. Hopefully the sun tomorrow will soften it enough so I can shovel the darn thing.
Thanks drt_Jumper for calling and checking up on me to make sure things were OK.
You all people here why I love this board. Always willing to help people. This board is full of caring individuals that are always thinking of everybody else.
Anyhow, thanks everybody !!
