Is this site slow for anyone else? It's been really really pokey the last few week days. It's taking close to a minute to load each page.

Depending on the page, I'm in the same boat. ClemsonJeeper can check the logs and utilization... but my guess is that people are just choking it. We could disallow pics or moving gifs in the sigs... that might help. Other than that, it's just that this site is a whole lot of server-side stuff. If it's on a shared box at a server facility, there may be a lot of usage on the other sites within the box. Thus, our machine may have only a fraction of the resources actually available for a site that's going to suck them down pretty hard.

Make due for now I guess...

it was slower before he did the upgrade, then it got fast again. today is somewhat sluggish.

so Scot, yes to your question

I also concur with Dav's speculations, but only Rob can speak to them.

one other thing, lots of peeps on these days. seems like that during the day there are over 100 peeps who either log in, lurk or just visit without logging in and just sit here all day.

The machine isn't shared, it is dedicated. I think there might be some memory leakage going on either in Apache or PHP, because when I restart the server when it gets sluggish it starts running again fine.

With the old server, load was easily above 2 during peak hours, now it hovers around 0.70 which is somewhat acceptable...

I'm investigating it.

the site has been responding very well now. I guess Rob plugged the anal leakage and thwarted the butt pirates with his ninja server skills.
