OK so, I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane yesterday for the first time. Let me tell you something... it was freaking INSANELY AWESOME.

We all have a little adrenaline junkie inside each of us -- otherwise we wouldn't be doing what we do, so let me tell you.. there is nothing like the feeling when you first jump out of the plane, do a few flips, then start freefalling at 140mph straight down. Um, hello adrenaline.

Anyway, needless to say, I'm addicted. I want to go back. Who wants to go?

BTW the place I went was Skydive Virginia. http://www.skydive-virginia.com/ It cost 209$ for a tandem jump from 10,500 ft. The guy who took me (Mike) had something crazy like 4700 jumps. The other guy who took my friend (Chris) was around 1000 or so. Either way, 7 of us went - 5 guys 2 girls.. and we all jumped off the truck that gave us a ride back from the LZ to the canopy with giant shiteating grins on our faces.

Pics to come when my friend posts them.

I used to get paid to do it.
Skydive Orange is a great place.
If anyone wants to get a group together I'll fly us down there...

Yeah...you start getting used to the sensations and can enjoy it more if you jump a lot.

Yeah it seemed like the freefall took like all of 2 seconds before I had to pull the ripcord. Was looking at my altimeter go from 10... 9... 8 ... 7 .. 6000 feet.. signal.. PULL! and it seemed like no time.

And holy nut wrenching when that chute opened up... wow.

Awesome, Steve. Army? Broke my foot on my last jump in Yuma, AZ. You haven't lived until you've left the door with oxygen, 110lbs of equipment, and boots 24,000ft above the ground.

Sucks now I have to pay for it all.

My blog about our skydiving in Vegas.

http://justinneitzey.blogspot.com/20...christ-no.html

It's kinda long.

"...And after a wicked 1080-degree flat spin that the instructor put us into, we landed comfortably on the ground. When Nicole landed, we gave each other a huge hug, almost falling into the ground because our nerves were just happy-happy. We couldn’t stop talking about it for 10 minutes. Our mouths were dry, our eyes were wide open, and our pants strangely dry."

Skydive Orange drops you from about 13.5K I believe. We got roughly 40 seconds of freefall or so. Depends on the size, surface area, blah blah blah of the two people. First words out of my instructor's mouth (he was at least 6'1 200 lbs) when he asked who Derek was and I raised my hand was "Jesus, you're a tank! We're gonna drop like a rock!!"

The freefall went really fast. I was so busy looking around that I didn't see my instructor signal to pull the ripcord right away. I think a second time would be much better for enjoying the whole experience as well as being more aware of the technical aspects i.e. I didn't look at my altimeter once..nor did I have any clue what we did between the time we left the plane and ended up facing the earth.

Yeah, when he pulled the chute that was nut squishingly terrific! He asked if I wanted to spin and I said sure...that was cool too, but again..very hard on the boys

I know I wasn't doing 205 your honor, because my bike topped out at 145 last week......" *pauses* "I need NAWS."

I am in too.

I have only jumped once before – but I had a grin for days and couldn’t stop talking about it.. it’s a nice adrenaline rush that lasts for about 3 days… I used to go bungee jumping out in CA. dollar for dollar bridge jumping was a bigger rush, but skydiving definitely is fun (its just that the horizon moves up on you much slower). The last time I went bungee jumping, I had my buddies blindfold me, pick me up and throw me upside down off a bridge, dipping into the water.. and oh, I was drunk..
