Smithsonian Print Ads - Brilliant! - March 21, 2011, 03:51 PM

I pray these aren't fake and are actually part of a new ad campaign.

Both.
And his empire makes the Roman, Ottoman, and British empires look pathetic.

kinda vulgar for public ads for the smithsonian.

What do you value more? Life or Image?

According to the website I found em on, it's some artist doing concepts. Not official work.

I interned for Smithsonian from 86 to 91 and work from 91 to 2004. I would have hated to see those become real posted ads. Smithsonian is a core part of me and don't need gimmicks to draw people in like that. But i do like the posters and what it says about the past and today.

I still walk around the Air and Space museum with the same level of awe and amazement as when I was a kid.

+1. I don't think I could ever get sick of the air and space or natural history museums.

Me too. I love walking through the cockpits of the old planes. I stood at the new exhibit of the Airbus A380 for almost an hour. That stuff is way cool.

Not true. Ottomans had the largest connected one piece land empire and the British had the largest empire land square footage wise. Cengiz Kaan was definitely more ruthless and acquired land in a very short period of time but they did not control it.

+1 I grew up there since my dad is a Wright Brothers' historian, we built the 1902 Wright glider that is hanging in the National Air & Space Museum, and we were part of one of the IMAX films shown there so I have a connection there. The posters are funny, but I'm glad they aren't official.
